Utah GOP bids farewell to Gov Huntsman, welcomes Gov Herbert

August 11, 2009

On this historic Inauguration Day, August 11, 2009, the Utah Republican Party wants to first thank our departing Governor, Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., for the service he has given our great state over the past four and a half years.  Not only has he guided our state with vision, eloquence and class, but he and his gracious wife, Mary Kaye, have provided our citizens with a wonderful example of respect, love and consideration within a family.  We wish you the very best as you begin a new chapter in your lives and know that you will serve our country well as Ambassador.

Governor Gary R. Herbert begins his tenure as Utah’s 17th chief executive with the support of not only Utah Republicans, but all citizens of our great state.  He has prepared well.  He understands the issues and knows our citizens.  For the past five years no one has traveled our state and met with our people and local government leaders more than Gary Herbert.  He is truly one of “us” in every sense of the word.  We have confidence in your leadership and stand ready to assist you in every way to meet the challenges ahead.  To you and your wife Janette, we support you and stand with you as you assume the duties and responsibilities as Utah’s Governor.
